What are Credits and Bonus Credits?

Credits (Cr.) and Bonus Credits (BCr.) are the official currency of damodo, which all transactions are based on. Credits are available here in a fixed exchange rate against the Euro, with 100 Cr. = 100 BCr. = 1 € / 1 Cr. = 1 BCr. = 0,01 €.

Bonus Credits (BCr.) will be awarded for certain actions on damodo. Thus the purchases of Credits, depending on the quantity purchased, are rewarded with Bonus Credits (see next question).

At this time we only accept payments for credits and payout of your damodo balance via PayPal© (also see next question). We will soon be adding other forms of payment services.

Payout of your damodo credit balance will only occur monthly after the expiration of each month if your remaining credit balance is greater than 5 000 Cr. (50 €). Payout is subject to a PayPal fee of 85 Cr. (0,85 €), which will be deducted from the total amount prior to payout. Your bonus credits balance (BCr.) cannot be paid out, since bonus credits have no cash value.

Your credit does not expire on damodo.

What is the difference between purchasing a Basic or an Extended License of a work?

What is a cover and when can I, or when should I, upload it with the original work?

A cover could be a poster of your film, a front page of your writing, a song cover or anything alike for example. A cover serves as an identifiable image associated with your work and could help advertise it. Your cover can therefore only be uploaded with audio, video and text files. The cover must also be in the format of JPG, PNG (≥ 480 × 480) or SVG and must not exceed 2 MB in file size.

A cover image is automatically generated for all image files. In the case of videos, if no extra cover is uploaded by you we will automatically generate one from a frame exactly in the middle of the film. In the case of text files, again, if no extra cover is uploaded we will automatically generate one from the first page of the document.

What is a sample and when can I, or when should I, upload it with the original work?

A sample could be a segment of your song, a trailer for your film, a section of your writing or anything alike for example. This free sample of your work is to give the potential customer a better idea of your work before they purchase it. Samples can only be uploaded with audio, video, and text files.

If you choose to upload a sample, this will serve as the preview for your audio or video file.

How and when are previews generated?

Previews are generated from the audio and video samples that you upload. When you choose not to upload a sample, damodo will generate a preview from the main audio or video file.

Previews are always generated at a lower quality than the main work or sample. Audio previews have a bitrate of only 96 kb/s and video previews are resized to a resolution of 444 lines.
